The proposal for East Civic B area is a collaborative venue space for aspiring artists and producers that serves as a community space for the various demographics of the east civic center. the proposal combines both, a formal and informal program by allowing the existing site to transform into a playground when an event is not occurring.
The transformative behavior of the program through the day and night manifests identity and memory into the site by establishing a mutual relationship between the community, site, and the performer, and providing a third place for the shared experience of music.
The concept of sampling deals with appropriating elements to assemble a composition through the use of mixing, framing, and overlaying. The Knoxville Chromatik Center mixes hard edges of the sequence of masses along with the curvilinear mesh enclosure to create a fluid, all-inclusive
environment that ties in the old, new, borrowed, and blue to form connections between all demographics of the area.
